FQM Kevitsa Mining Oy requires the services of an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the metallurgical plant, which comprises a copper / nickel / PGM ore crushing, milling and froth flotation concentrator, and achieving optimum production levels in a safe and sustainable manner. Critical success factors include the execution of operations improvement programs and capital expenditure management. Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager will be responsible for the leadership, management and technical excellence of the metallurgical plant.
Key areas of responsibilities and duties include:
Leading compliance with Health & Safety policies and Environmental Management Standards
o Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and achievement of tasks in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner
o Integrate environment management into operational activities and review related systems. Provide technical advice and solutions to operations and/or corporate management to address environmental risks and emerging compliance issues.
o Liaise with key stakeholders and authorities
Managing the process operation to achieve a high level of operating efficiency
o Evaluate current and potential processing methods and develop innovative and cost effective operating methodologies to improve and sustain optimum ore processing
o Establish, monitor and analyse key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and recommend corrective actions to the operations team
o Design process flow sheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and material utilization
o Provide direction to maintenance and project engineering functions
Leading team to achieve metallurgical and operational effectiveness
o Provide leadership, guidance, support and back-up to all team members to increase efficiency and achieve targets whilst adhering to mine standards and legislation
o Complete talent pool analysis and ensure that individual development plans are approved and training opportunities available. Provide inputs to improve effectiveness of technical training and learning. Ensure that team members’ capabilities match the complexity of their roles
o Provide direction to the Management Team in the General Manager’s absence and as required.
The appointee will have:
Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical, chemical or minerals engineering from an internationally recognized university
Advanced degree is advantageous
Minimum 15 years of metallurgical and mineral processing experience with 5+ years at a senior management level
Budget preparation and cost management experience
Experience working in challenging environments including remote locations and with diverse cultural and language groups
Experience in mentoring, capacity building and/or leading diverse work teams.
In addition to these requirements, the following would be well regarded:
Fluent Finnish/English language skills
Strong appreciation of environmental management
Demonstrated understanding and enforcement of policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance and human resources
Ability to effectively delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
