Boliden Kevitsa located in Sodankylä, Finland, is seeking a

Quality Developer 

The Kevitsa open-pit mine in northern Finland was acquired by Boliden in June 2016. The operation, which comprises a mine and a concentrator, went into operation in 2012. The Kevitsa deposit – first discovered in 1987 – is one of the largest mineral discoveries in Finland. Currently, Kevitsa has 450 employees who work together with around 250 contractors.

Tasks

Boliden Kevitsa is looking for a Quality Developer to support and develop the Site in line with the company strategies with a focus on developing processes according to the New Boliden Way (NBW)*. A key performance area will be to plan, execute and follow up NBW/quality related activities in order to improve the long-term competitiveness of the mine. The Quality Developer is responsible for ensuring that the NBW efforts are sustained on a high and ambitious level in the operations and that the organization holds a good understanding of what the ambitious are with the NBW and for the visualization of the progress of the work.

Key areas of responsibilities and duties include:

  • Develop analyse, evaluate and improve the Operational Management System (OMS)
  • Function as a catalyst for systematic quality improvements in the line organization
  • Support the organization in the field quality/ NBW
  • Carry out training within the OMS and its tools
  • Management of the Internal Audit program
  • Together with the management team identify and initiate process/functions
  • Provide methodology support for the NBW tools, e.g. 5S
  • Provide training, facilitation and coaching to the operational departments

 Education and qualifications

The appointee will have:

  • University degree in Engineering with minimum three years of relevant mining and/or quality experience
  • Mining industry or other heavy industry experience for understanding the nature of the work
  • Good speaking, reading, writing and presenting skills in Finnish and English.
  • Basic understanding of mining
  • Basic knowledge of NBW, LEAN and/or other related methodologies
  • Clear and logical thinking
  • Quality and accuracy of work
