Mobile Fleet Manager (Korjaamopäällikkö)

Boliden Kevitsa operates an established mining operation at the Kevitsa Copper and Nickel Mine in the Finnish Lapland.  Mining at Kevitsa is by conventional open pit methods, using large electric shovels and drills with mechanical/AC drive haul trucks. Kevitsa management plans to expand the processing capacity from 7Mt to 9Mt over the next few years. In addition to nickel and copper, Kevitsa produces platinum, palladium, gold, and cobalt. The production is expected to be approximately 10.000 tonnes of nickel and 20.000 tonnes of copper per annum.

Tasks

The mobile fleet workshop of Boliden Kevitsa is located right next to the open pit area. The workshop directly employs a maintenance planning team and 40 Mechanics specializing in mining equipment unique in Finland. Mobile fleet maintenance is coordinated in close co-operation with the mine production and maintenance sub-contractors of heavy trucks, shovels and drills. We are now looking for a Mobile Fleet Manager to lead the workshop of the biggest and fastest growing copper and nickel mine in Finland. Your responsibility is to ensure that our large-scale mining vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high safety, productive and reliable standard. We are looking for an experienced professional, who makes sure that the efficient maintenance of the mobile fleet results in maximum overall availability and reliability.

The Mobile Fleet Manager promotes safe, healthy and fair work environment for a team of 50 employees, actively developing procedures and taking part in HSE initiatives while managing the daily challenges of the maintenance workshop. Having excellent communication skills in both Finnish and English, the Manager develops, communicates and successfully implements the mobile fleet maintenance strategy as well as promotes a continuous improvement mindset in various projects to ensure outstanding quality and efficiency. Mobile Fleet Manager reports to Engineering & Maintenance Manager of Boliden Kevitsa Mine.

Education and qualifications

A successful candidate has:

  • BSc. or MSc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Maintenance management, business management or other relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Eight to twelve years mechanical engineering or senior mechanic experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in a leadership role
  • Leading experience with large mechanical / electric mining fleet or equal experience with heavy vehicles
  • Good skills in departmental budgeting
  • Experience managing OEM and dealership relationships (Catepillar, Komatsu, Atlas Copco)
  • Detailed knowledge of preventive, predictive and lifecycle maintenance activities
  • Effective fault finding and repair of the mobile fleet capabilities
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
