Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We are looking for a person for the position of Senior Geotechnical Engineer in the Mining Operations department. You will be carrying out geotechnical modelling and monitoring of the open-pit, promote the safety culture of the work community and ensure that geotechnical risks are effectively identified, managed and controlled.

Responsibilities

• Implementation, development and maintenance of slope monitoring solutions like radars and InSAR
• Develop and execute ground control management plan
• Provide weekly risk assessments and reports on the geotechnical status of the open pit
• Assist in providing technical advice for other departments geotechnical issues related to dumps, landfills, haul roads, heaps or dams
• Data analysis and geotechnical modelling together with mine planning and geology teams to ensure that geomechanical properties influencing open pit slope stability are properly understood
• Provide hands on support for geotechnical data collection from open pit and drill cores.

Qualifications and experience

• University Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or Rock Mechanics
• Previous work experience in geotechnical engineering roles or experience from open pit environment
• Ability to use or learn standard geotechnical modelling software
• Willingness to work on field
• Fluent in English. Finnish is an advantage.

The employment relationship is valid until further notice. There is possibility to work partially remotely.
