Seminar: Management of water balance in mining areas – Watersmart project
Date: Friday 28.8.2015, 9:30–16:00
Venue: Finnish Environment Institute, Helsinki, Mechelininkatu 34 a, Auditorium
A seminar of the WaterSmart project will be arranged in August 28th, 2015 at Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) in Helsinki. The presentations given in the seminar will present the results obtained so far in the project. After the presentations we will have a panel discussion on the needs and possibilities of water balance modelling at mine sites. The seminar is arranged in cooperation with the Mine Water Competence Network – KaivosVV project.
The aim of the WaterSmart project is to improve the awareness of actual quantities of water, and water balances in mine areas to give possibility to forecast water masses in future. Moreover the goal is to promote the anticipation and management of water masses. The project is part of sustainable extractive industry programme Green Mining by Tekes. It is carried out in cooperation between Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) and Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT). Additionally the industrial partners involved in this project were Outotec Oyj, Boliden Luikonlahti, EHP-tekniikka Ltd, ÅF Consult and Yara Suomi Oy.
On the behalf of the WaterSmart project,
