Boliden Kevitsa Mine is located 140 kilometers north of Rovaniemi in Sodankylä municipality. Kevitsa is a copper – nickel sulphide deposit with important gold, cobalt and platinum-group-metals by-product credits. Process facilities were originally designed for 5 million tons per annum with built in expansion capabilities. Mill feed rate 2017 was 7.9 Mt and is planned to be expanded to 9.5 Mtpa by 2020. Metal production 2017 was 13 800 tons of nickel and 30 000 tons of copper.
