Bryssel: Best practices on mining policies and technologies

DG Enterprise and Industry will organise, as part of the EU Raw Materials Diplomacy Dialogues, a workshop with advanced mining countries on Best practices on mining policies and technologies. The workshop will take place in Brussels on the 12 and 13 June 2014, in Hotel Bloom.

Participating countries are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, Peru, South Africa and United States of America.

The main objectives of the workshop is to promote the exchange of best practices between EU and the listed countries in the following areas:

– Mining policies (including exploration permits and exploitation licences)
– Environmental, security and health issues (including mining waste disposal, management and rehabilitation of mines)
– Data acquisition, knowledge base and land use planning
– Public awareness, acceptance and trust
– Advanced mining and processing technologies and skills
– Mining in extreme environments
– Discussion and identification of topics of common interest for future cooperation.

We would appreciate very much if you could disseminate this information amongst the relevant entities in your Member State or your associated members.
