Kesselrun Resources (TSXV: KES)  announced that it acquired, through staking, a number of mining claims adjacent to its Bluffpoint gold project in Ontario, Canada.

The Bluffpoint gold project is located near the Bluffpoint lake in western Ontario, approximately 50 kilometres northeast of, and on the same structural trend as, New Gold’s Rainy River mine

In a press release, Kesselrun explained that the unpatented claims consist of 96 units, approximately 3,210 hectares in size, that are located to the south and east of Bluffpoint. This addition increases the project size to approximately 8,890 hectares.

According to the Thunder Bay-based miner, numerous historic gold showings occur on the newly acquired ground including ones which occur in geology along strike and down dip of the historic Straw Lake Beach gold mine which produced 11,568 ounces of gold and 1,049 ounces of silver from 33,662 tons between 1938 and 1941.

Geology in the area is granitoid hosted with variable phases and late felsic dykes delineating shear zones.
