Strike-hit South African platinum producers Anglo American Platinum Ltd (Amplats), Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd (Implats) and Lonmin plc have said they would oppose the “urgent application” by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) to the country’s labour court, which aims to prevent the firms directly approaching workers in order to glean their views about a revised pay offer.
